President Nicușor Dan did not participate, on August 15, in the festivities organized in Constanța on the occasion of the Romanian Navy Day. The head of state was present that day at events organized at the Dejani Monastery, in Brașov County.
Asked about the president's absence, presidential advisor Eugen Tomac stated that Nicușor Dan has "a deep respect" for the Romanian Naval Forces and recalled his visit in June to Istanbul, where he attended the ceremony dedicated to the corvette "Rear Admiral August Roman".
However, Tomac did not provide a concrete reason for the president's absence from the ceremonies in Constanța, despite repeated questions from journalists. He emphasized the strategic importance of the Black Sea for European security, trade, and connectivity, and mentioned that other officials were present at the events, including the prime minister and the minister of defense.
In the message sent on Navy Day, the head of state highlighted the role of the Black Sea in the security of Europe and the need to modernize the Naval Forces.
