President Nicușor Dan stated regarding the Ukrainian drone that exploded in the port of Constanța that "we must be very clear that Ukraine is the attacked country," and "for any kind of events that occur, the responsible party is Russia, because Russia is the aggressor country in this war and Ukraine is defending itself as it manages to do so."
The drone is part of a set of four that lost control, being loaded with explosives. Nicușor Dan explained that the protocol was followed in managing the incident, mentioning that specialist teams arrived at the scene at 6:46, after the information about the drone was received at 6:00.
He detailed that, in accordance with the protocols, measures were taken to clear the affected perimeter, including moving ships from the area. The president emphasized that the civil authorities alerted the Army and the SRI, thus ensuring the civil protection of the area.
"So far, I do not see any human error," the head of state emphasized.
He also stated that the incident occurred against the backdrop of a lack of new technology.
"The difficulty with drones, as was the case yesterday, is that normal radars do not see them. Other equipment with a shorter range around them is needed to detect maritime drones," he added.
When asked when he informed Kyiv that the drone would explode, Nicușor Dan said that at 10:00 he received communication from Ukraine that it would explode at 10:26.
