The law promulgated by Nicușor Dan aims to update the legislative framework for the electronic monitoring of accused persons, in accordance with Romania's obligations in the context of joining the Schengen area. An important novelty is the introduction of the border proximity alert, which is activated when a monitored person is within 30 km of the border. These measures will enhance the authorities' control capacity and ensure compliance with judicial measures, thus contributing to increased public safety and aligning Romania with European standards.
