President Nicușor Dan promulgated a law on Wednesday that introduces regulations aimed at improving the safety of patients and medical staff in public and private healthcare facilities. According to the new regulations, each patient admission room must be equipped with panic buttons, which will trigger alerts in case of medical emergencies or imminent danger situations, being particularly useful for immobilized patients.
Additionally, the law provides for the installation of video surveillance systems in Anesthesia and Intensive Care (ICU) units, in emergency departments, and in those designated for critically ill cardiac patients. The purpose of these measures is to ensure compliance with medical protocols and to provide a safer environment for both patients and medical staff, thus discouraging assaults in hospitals.
