President Nicușor Dan announced that he has promulgated a law that imposes fines on traders who do not comply with the obligation to replace purchased products, either physically or online, in the event that the buyer identifies a non-compliance within 30 days of purchase. Fines range from 5,000 to 25,000 lei. The law was adopted by the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies on October 29 and aims to strengthen consumer protection, ensuring the correct application of their rights. The initiators emphasized that the absence of sanctions for the seller's refusal to replace non-compliant goods has led to multiple unjustified refusals. Through this amendment, it is intended to correct the legislator's omission and sanction the contraventions related to the non-compliance with these provisions.
