The National Company for Road Investments has signed a contract for the Feasibility Study of the Bucharest-Giurgiu highway, a strategic project for Romania's connectivity with Bulgaria. This road could become an alternative bypass for the Capital, especially for freight traffic from Bulgaria. The study will analyze several route options, including the possibility of connecting the road to the A1 Highway, thus creating a second highway ring for Bucharest. The director of CNIR, Gabriel Budescu, emphasized that the study will also determine the type of road, either a highway or an express road, with an estimated three lanes in each direction. The project has a value of 33 million lei and a duration of 18 months for completion.
