The National Trade Union Confederation Meridian is organizing a national protest meeting in Victory Square, between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM, expecting over 10,000 participants from all national trade union confederations, including members of pensioners' and students' organizations. The protest coincides with World Day for Safety and Health at Work, marked annually on April 28.

Demonstrators, coming from cities such as Cluj-Napoca and Iași, are dissatisfied with recent government reforms that have led to rising inflation and increased cost of living. They contest measures adopted without real social dialogue, which affect salaries, pensions, and jobs. The government, led by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, has cut incomes, and planned reforms in administration could reduce the number of employees in the police and local authorities.
