PNL Vice President Alexandru Muraru said in an interview with RFI that PSD was preparing to suspend President Nicușor Dan and that, at this point, 18 votes were still needed for the move to become a reality.
Muraru argues that the signatures of PSD lawmakers seeking to suspend the head of state are not an isolated episode, but indicate a major political shift and a rapprochement between the Social Democrats, AUR and other extremist parties. According to the PNL leader, PSD has moved from statements distancing itself from AUR to concrete cooperation against the president.
The PNL vice president says that the position of PSD lawmakers is being tolerated by the party leadership and that this attitude would indicate the existence of a political plan approved at the central level. He compared the situation with the political scenario of November 2024, claiming that PSD allegedly transferred votes at that time to the candidate who reached the second round of the presidential election.
Muraru also said that some Social Democratic lawmakers had informed their liberal colleagues that the operation concerning the president’s suspension had already been launched in Parliament. His statements were not accompanied during the interview by any public documents confirming the existence of an official agreement by the PSD leadership.
