AUR leader George Simion is calling on PSD lawmakers to support the initiative to suspend President Nicușor Dan. On Tuesday, he announced that he would send the Social Democratic lawmakers the table needed to collect signatures, in an attempt to unblock the parliamentary process.
“Nicușor Dan must be suspended! Today I am giving all PSD lawmakers the signature table. Write to them yourselves to sign it and let’s unblock the Country!”, George Simion said in a post published on Facebook.
On August 6, AUR launched the suspeND.ro platform, where it presents the initiative’s progress and the number of supporters. According to the data published on the website, 119 lawmakers have already expressed their support for the effort, while the number of sympathizers exceeds 409,000.
To initiate the procedure for suspending the president, 155 signatures from lawmakers are required. Thus, the AUR initiative still needs 36 signatures to reach the required threshold. The request addressed to PSD represents the latest step announced by George Simion to attract parliamentary support and advance the procedure.
