Mircea Abrudean, vice president of PNL and president of the Senate, stated that PSD could have assumed governance from the beginning, but chose to exhaust other options to gain broader acceptance. Abrudean emphasizes that PNL will not offer a "blank check" to a party that has not acted as an honest partner, putting the interests of Romania second. He highlighted that PSD violated the governance protocol and was responsible for the collapse of the Government of which it was a part. In this context, Abrudean proposed an Agreement for Romania, which would establish priorities for the upcoming period, essential to avoid financial losses from the PNRR and to maintain the country's external credibility. PNL, together with USR and UDMR, proposed the MEP Siegfried Mureșan for the position of prime minister.
