Metrorex announced the completion of a tunnel segment at the Băneasa station, advancing the works on Line 6, which will connect the North Station to Otopeni Airport.

Metrorex announced that the tunneling shield 'Sfânta Maria' has broken through the wall of the future metro station Gara Băneasa, marking the completion of the second segment of the tunnel on Line 6. The shield 'Sfânta Ana' is also heading towards the same destination, having already covered 1,600 meters and assembled 1,076 tunnel rings.

The tunnel excavated by 'Sfânta Maria' between the Tokyo and Gara Băneasa stations totals 2,006 meters and 1,334 rings. The total length of the underground tunnel up to the 1 Mai station will be 6.6 km. The works are in accordance with the execution planning for the SOUTH Section of Line 6, which will connect Gara de Nord to Otopeni International Airport, having a route of 14.2 km and 12 stations.
