Sector 5 City Hall has signed the contract for the feasibility study for the M7 Bragadiru–Voluntari metro line

The Sector 5 City Hall signed on Wednesday the contract for preparing the feasibility study for the M7 Bragadiru–Voluntari metro line, a project estimated at approximately 26 kilometers and 27 stations. The documentation will establish the final route, the number of stations, and the technical solutions required to build the line.

The contract was signed by Sector 5, the partnership leader for preparing the metro line, in collaboration with Metrorex, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Ilfov County Council, and Sector 2. The study will be prepared by the companies Concrete Design Solutions and Urban Scope, while the funding is secured through European funds under the Transport Programme 2021–2027.

The metro line is expected to connect the city of Bragadiru with Voluntari, crossing Sector 5, the central area of Bucharest, and Sector 2. The route targets a corridor where hundreds of thousands of Bucharest and Ilfov residents live and work, but which currently lacks high-capacity public transport.

The signing of the contract marks the transition from strategic planning to the technical preparation of the project.

The partnership between the local authorities and the central administration was established through a protocol signed in 2025.
