The Mayor of Sector 3, Robert Sorin Negoiță, sent a congratulatory message to the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests for the initiative to amend the Forestry Code, which introduces a penal regime for the cutting, destruction, or degradation of trees in urban green areas. Negoiță believes that this measure is essential for protecting green spaces, affected by illegal restitutions and massive deforestation. He emphasizes that the Sector 3 City Hall has long proposed such a legislative change, aimed at discouraging harmful actions to the health of the community.

The mayor requests that the amendments include holding accountable those who have already caused destruction, citing the situation in IOR Park, where 12 hectares have been illegally restituted, and hundreds of trees have been cut down or poisoned. Negoiță proposes that property owners be required to replant twice the number of trees removed. In conclusion, he expresses his appreciation for the openness of the Ministry of Environment and hopes that his proposal will be seriously considered, for the benefit of urban communities in Romania.
