The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, has requested local police to check heavy vehicles that do not pay the access fee in the central and semi-central areas of the city.

This decision was made after the mayor personally found that only one out of six checked vehicles had paid the fee. Ciucu emphasized the negative impact of heavy vehicles on infrastructure, maintenance costs, and pollution, arguing that those who cause wear and pollution should contribute accordingly. He convened the leadership of the Local Police to initiate a comprehensive control and promised higher penalties than the fee to discourage non-compliance with the rules. The mayor stressed the need to adhere to the rules to ensure the city's development and condemned the practices of operators who prefer to pay fines instead of paying the fee.
