A 66-year-old man from Târgu Jiu was detained for posing as a lawyer and collecting sums from drivers for the recovery of their licenses.

A 66-year-old man from Târgu Jiu was detained by police after he presented himself as a lawyer between 2022 and 2025, collecting amounts between 350 euros and 3,500 lei from clients, promising them the recovery of their driving licenses.

According to the spokesperson of the Gorj County Police Inspectorate, Ioana Sacagiu, the man misled several individuals by offering them legal assistance without having the legal right to practice. On February 5, 2026, the police decided to detain him for 24 hours, drawing up a criminal case for fraud, practicing a profession without the right, material forgery in official documents, and use of forgery.
