The Board of Administration of the National Forest Administration - Romsilva has appointed Jean Vişan as the general director of the institution for a three-year term, until August 2029. The selection procedure was initiated on January 12, 2026, and out of the 13 initial candidates, five made it to the shortlist. Jean Vişan, a 49-year-old forestry engineer, has been the interim general director since August 2025 and has extensive experience in the field, having held positions within the Vintilă Vodă Forestry District and the Buzău Forestry Directorate.
He has also held various leadership positions within Romsilva, including in the areas of investments and forest regeneration. RNP - Romsilva manages 3.13 million hectares of forests and provides forestry services for another 1.1 million hectares. Vişan will be responsible for managing these vital resources, considering the current challenges in the forestry sector.
