Ioana Ene Dogioiu stated that she will not publicly apologize for the comments regarding the removal of the cap on the commercial markup for food, asserting that she acts based on an official mandate. She explained that the extension of the cap was adopted in the government meeting on June 27 and refused to comment further on the subject. Dogioiu emphasized that the prices of basic food items will increase starting October 1, following the decision of the governing coalition to abandon the cap. PSD leaders have called for resignations and apologies, considering that her statements affect the coalition.
