According to Eurostat data, in 2024, 9.2% of the population of the European Union faced difficulties in heating their homes, an improvement compared to 10.6% in 2023. The most affected countries are Bulgaria and Greece, each with 19%, followed by Lithuania (18%) and Spain (17.5%).
In contrast, Finland has the lowest rate of heating problems, at 2.7%, followed by Poland and Slovenia (3.3%) and Estonia and Luxembourg (3.6%). In Romania, 10.8% of citizens reported difficulties in heating their homes, a decrease from 12.5% in 2023, less than in Spain and France, which had percentages of 17.5% and 11.8%, respectively. These data suggest a positive trend regarding accessibility to heating in the European Union.
