Glovo Romania, part of the multinational Delivery Hero, will be taken over by the American investment fund SSW Partners, which will take over operations in 14 countries, including Romania.
This move comes in the context of the offer launched by Uber Technologies to acquire Delivery Hero, valuing the group at 14.8 billion dollars. Glovo entered the Romanian market in May 2018 and is fully owned by Delivery Hero.
The sale agreement was concluded to address the concerns of competition authorities, considering the overlaps with Uber Eats. The sold package includes operations in Romania, Spain, Portugal, Poland, as well as in other European countries and South America. SSW Partners, with experience in international transactions, has previously coordinated significant acquisitions.
If the Uber offer is approved, it will create the largest food delivery company in the world outside of China. Glovo has recorded accelerated growth in Romania, with a turnover of 712.23 million lei in 2025.
