George Simion, the leader of AUR, traveled to Târgu Jiu to express his support for the employees of the Oltenia Energy Complex, who are protesting against layoffs and working conditions. Simion spoke with the protesters and conveyed a message of solidarity, emphasizing that miners and energy workers feel abandoned by the authorities.

He warned that the situation at the Oltenia Energy Complex poses a major risk to Romania's energy security, mentioning that young people are being laid off while long-serving workers cannot retire properly. Simion called on the government to urgently intervene to save the company and protect jobs, highlighting the importance of mining as a strategic sector. The protests began in early March, and about 50 employees went on a hunger strike, dissatisfied with the risks of layoffs.
