On Wednesday, George Simion, the leader of AUR, responded to the former American ambassador to Bucharest, Adrian Zuckerman, who criticized Romania in a HotNews interview, stating that Romanian society is more conservative than the MAGA movement in the United States. Zuckerman accused Simion of using the MAGA label to build political support in the USA.

In response, Simion stated on platform X that he will not tolerate Romania being criticized by former or current ambassadors. He emphasized that the involvement of former ambassadors in dealings with state institutions after their term raises questions about inappropriate interference. Simion concluded by stating that Romania will decide its own path.
