PSD MEP Gabriela Firea sent a firm message to Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, emphasizing that PSD cannot vote for a budget that does not reflect the needs of Romanians. Firea stated that the position of the social democrats is consistent and clear, aiming to defend the interests of those affected by austerity.
She criticized the fact that the Minister of Finance found resources for only half of the social measures, considering the cut in local investments unacceptable. Firea emphasized that the delay in approving the budget is not PSD's fault, but that of those who oppose social measures. She called for the inclusion of a Social Package in the budget, which should be financed by the taxes of Romanians. The package proposed by PSD, with a budget of 2.3 billion lei, would provide financial support for the elderly, children with disabilities, and low-income families. Prime Minister Bolojan responded that PSD needs to come up with a funding proposal for this package.
