The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a travel advisory on Thursday for Romanian citizens in Albania, transiting the country or planning to travel there, amid protests in Tirana. Demonstrations in the capital’s city center have escalated and devolved into acts of violence.

The protests may cause disruptions to road traffic and public transportation. The Foreign Ministry also warns that tensions could spread to other localities, including Shkoder, Elbasan, Korca, Vlora and Lushnja.

Romanian authorities advise citizens to avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place, keep their distance from large gatherings and strictly follow the instructions of local authorities. Romanians are advised to stay continuously informed about developments.

For consular assistance, the Embassy of Romania in Tirana can be contacted at +355 4 230 31 33 and +355 4 230 3104. In case of emergency, the number +355 69 709 779 is available. The Foreign Ministry recommends consulting the institution’s website and using the “Travel Informed” app.
