A loud explosion was heard late Monday evening in the west of the Capital. Authorities announced that a fire occurred at the CET Vest power plant and that it initially manifested with open flames. A drop in electrical voltage was felt for a few seconds in several areas of Bucharest, around 11:35 PM.

To manage the situation, seven fire trucks with water and foam, eight tankers, one nitrogen truck, one aerial ladder, a SMURD first aid team, a mobile SMURD intensive care unit, and a foam intervention truck were mobilized.

At the moment, the fire is no longer manifesting with flames. Work is still ongoing to cool the intervention area. Correction: The fire affected a total of 3 electrical transformers" - ISU Bucharest-Ilfov

"From the information I have and from colleagues at the inspectorate, it concerns two transformers that caught fire, each containing 30 tons of oil, which are actually in the process of burning. They are working with water and foam, and the situation is dynamic; we have no victims, and there will be no Ro-Alert message because it is far from homes and the smoke is not extremely dense," declared Raed Arafat, head of the Department for Emergency Situations, directly to Digi24.
