Fire at the Iași Combined Heat and Power Plant after a transformer caught fire. No casualties were reported

Firefighters from Iași are responding to a fire that broke out in an industrial hall on the premises of the Iași CET, where flames are affecting the first floor over an area of approximately 1,000 square meters. The response is aimed at locating and extinguishing the fire, as well as preventing it from spreading.

According to the “Mihail Sturdza” Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Iași County, the hall’s total area is approximately 5,000 square meters. Seven intervention vehicles from Iași Firefighting Detachments 1 and 2 have been deployed to the scene.

The crews are using water- and foam-equipped firefighting vehicles, a vehicle for rescues and interventions at height, a first-aid crew, and a vehicle for transporting personnel and multiple victims.

The electricity supply was interrupted for the duration of the operations. As of the time the information was transmitted, no victims had been reported. ISU recommends that the public avoid the area, keep their distance from electrical installations, and follow the firefighters’ instructions.
