A fire broke out Wednesday in the attic of a residential apartment building on Gârlei Street, in Bucharest’s Sector 1. Firefighters were mobilized to put out the blaze, and no casualties had been reported at the time of transmission.
When the first crews arrived, the fire was producing open flames and heavy smoke at attic level. The response is ongoing, and the situation remains dynamic, according to the Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Situations Inspectorate.
ISUBIF is responding with eight water-and-foam firefighting vehicles, two high-rise intervention and rescue vehicles, a rescue vehicle from the Special Rescue Detachment, and a SMURD crew.
Firefighters are working to locate and extinguish the fire, inspect the building, and prevent the flames from spreading. The cause of the fire and any damage will be determined after the response is completed. ISUBIF will provide further updates on the situation.
