After the meetings organized for the Day of the Union in Iași and Focșani, the gendarmes imposed total fines of 38,000 lei and filed a criminal complaint in one case. In Iași, participants who forced the gendarmerie cordon, caused a scandal, or hurled insults were sanctioned. On January 24, 2026, a man was fined 1,000 lei for provocation, and on January 25, another 14 sanctions were issued, including a fine of 10,000 lei for organizing prohibited public gatherings. In Focșani, the gendarmes imposed fines of 10,000 lei, sanctioning eight people for inciting violence. The gendarmes continue their checks to identify and sanction other individuals who violated the law during these events. President Nicușor Dan attended the events, being booed by the crowd in Iași.
