In March, veterinary sanitary inspectors and food safety inspectors conducted 12,832 inspections at the national level, applying total fines of 1.54 million lei in the sector of non-animal food products. These actions, part of the ANSVSA surveillance program for 2026, targeted essential aspects of food safety, including hygiene, processing and storage conditions, compliance with authorization and traceability requirements.
172 warnings and 203 contraventional sanctions were issued, and the main non-compliances identified included non-compliance with hygiene standards, deficiencies in the implementation of HACCP procedures, and labeling issues. Inspectors collected samples for laboratory analysis, having a preventive role and providing advice to operators in the food industry. The president of ANSVSA, Alexandru Nicolae Bociu, emphasized the importance of food safety and prompt intervention in case of risks to consumers.
