Diana Buzoianu, the Minister of the Environment, announced the approval of the Vâja dam project, emphasizing that this is proof of effective collaboration between institutions and compliance with legal regulations. The decision was made by the Technical Analysis Commission of MMAP, after a detailed evaluation of the environmental impact, based on specialized studies. The project aims to ensure the safety of the dam at the intermediate level of 572 mdM, while simultaneously optimizing hydroelectric energy production and protecting downstream localities from floods. The selected alternative minimizes the impact on the Tismana River, maintaining the connectivity of aquatic ecosystems. Measures for preventing and monitoring environmental impact are integrated into all stages of the project. The Cerna-Motru-Tismana hydrotechnical complex is 90% completed, with an installed capacity of 119 MW.
