Unauthorized protest by farmers in front of the Government / Traffic on Kiseleff Boulevard was blocked

Approximately 1,000 shepherds and farmers blocked traffic on Tuesday in Victoriei Square, on the side with the Antipa Museum, in protest against the European Commission's decision in June to extend the ban on the export of sheep and goats from Romania to third countries until December 31, 2026.

"We've been pushed to the limit for a long time; we kept quiet, we endured, and we produced so many documents that we got sick of all the documents we submitted to the Romanian state and to the Romanian state authorities. Meanwhile, the food producer, the livestock farmer, has become the object of ridicule—not only under the current leadership, but also under the former leadership. They have constantly whipped us, us Romanian peasants—in other words, those involved in large-scale farming, everyone who is a food producer. We have become the laughingstock of the authorities who make laws together with cleaning ladies and traitors from our own sector," Ionică Sterp from Bihor, one of the leaders of the sheep breeders who announced that he unconditionally supports this protest, said in a Facebook post.

The Capital's Gendarmerie states that the demonstration did not follow the procedure for authorizing public gatherings and announces that it will set up checkpoints, recommending that participants “behave in a civilized manner, follow the gendarmes' instructions, avoid conflicts of any kind, and notify the nearest gendarme patrol if they observe people behaving antisocially.”
