The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) has extended the food alert initiated on April 30, regarding peanuts contaminated with aflatoxins, after new non-compliant varieties were identified. Metro Cash & Carry Romania has begun recalling several products from the peanut range, emphasizing the importance of food safety.

The affected products include several types of roasted and raw peanuts, with specified barcodes and batches. Consumers who have purchased these products are advised not to consume them and can return the products to Metro stores until May 30, 2026, receiving a full refund. Aflatoxins, toxins produced by molds, can severely affect health, being associated with liver cancer risks. The withdrawal of products from the market is a necessary measure to protect consumers.
