On Wednesday morning, an 81-year-old man from Vulcan suffered burns on approximately 30% of his body following an explosion that occurred in his studio apartment. According to the Hunedoara Emergency Situations Inspectorate, the victim was transported to the hospital in Petroșani, being conscious and cooperative. The explosion, which did not cause a fire, was likely caused by an electrical short circuit and a gas leak from a cooking appliance. Gas and electricity distribution teams intervened at the scene, and the supply of these services was stopped for all three staircases of the building. Specialists assessed the structure of the building and concluded that evacuation is not necessary, as the building's stability was not affected. Firefighters and technical teams continue to check for the safety of the supply networks.
