The Ministry of the Environment grants an environmental permit for the hydroelectric arrangement Surduc-Siriu, with additional measures for the protection of the environment and communities.

The Ministry of Environment has issued the environmental agreement for the hydroelectric development Surduc-Siriu, a project aimed at increasing the production of electricity from renewable sources. The agreement includes additional measures for environmental protection, such as ensuring an ecological flow on the Bâsca Mare river and continuous monitoring of environmental parameters.

The project, located in the counties of Buzău and Covasna, will complete works started before 1990 and will install a hydroelectric group of 55 MW, estimating an additional production of 152 GWh/year.

The public has ten days to submit observations or objections, and the project holder will prepare a study to ensure access to water for the riparian communities.

The project complies with national and European legislation regarding environmental impact assessment.
