Bogdan Ivan, the Minister of Energy, stated that it is unacceptable that, in 2026, hundreds of thousands of Bucharest residents, including the sick and children, will not have access to heating. Although modernization works for the heating network have been initiated, they are insufficient, and the transport and distribution infrastructure remains a major problem. Ivan mentioned that many of the pipes are 40-50 years old and present significant losses.

The Minister emphasized that the authorities are trying to collaborate effectively to find solutions, avoiding past institutional conflicts. He also noted that technical issues have been addressed, but historical deficiencies cannot be resolved quickly. Ivan announced a future meeting with the Mayor of the Capital and Termoenergetica to coordinate efforts to improve the heating situation.
