Eleven of the elderly found abandoned in miserable conditions after the closure of the private nursing home in Lenauheim (Timiș County) have been hospitalized with scabies, and the authorities have launched an epidemiological investigation.

Three of them are now at the Victor Babeș Infectious Diseases Hospital in Timișoara, diagnosed with scabies, while another eight are hospitalized at the Dermatology Clinic of the Timișoara Municipal Hospital, showing specific symptoms. The Timiș Public Health Directorate has requested measures to prevent the spread of scabies in the centers where the elderly have been relocated. The investigation began after 74 elderly people were found in inhumane conditions, sleeping on mattresses on the floor and cared for by unqualified individuals. Authorities have opened a criminal case for serious charges, including deprivation of liberty and practicing a profession without a license. The cases have been taken over by the Prosecutor's Office next to the Timiș Tribunal for further investigation.
