Before the case at Colentina Hospital, bedbugs had been reported at Bagdasar-Arseni Hospital, where the management decided to close the Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Department for disinfestation, with the measure expected to last one month. The decision was communicated to the Bucharest Public Health Directorate and the Ministry of Health, being presented as a protective measure for patients and staff.
Previously, complaints had also emerged in other settings in Bucharest: students reported bedbugs at ASE, and the management inspected the premises and isolated the reported furniture, announcing disinfestation operations in all buildings; meanwhile, the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest discussed the rise in the number of cases and asked the Eco Igienizare company for a bedbug control protocol, because the existing plan provided for measures against ticks, mosquitoes, and rats, but not bedbugs.
