Prosecutors are investigating acts of embezzlement and intellectual fraud at several medical institutions in Iași

The investigation conducted by the Prosecutor's Office near the Iași Court targets possible acts of forgery, intellectual fraud, and use of forgery, with suspicions regarding the preparation of false medical documents. The searches took place at the 'Dr. Ghelerter Iași' Mental Health Center, at the Socola Psychiatric Institute, and at the Pașcani Municipal Emergency Hospital, as well as at the homes of some medical staff.

Chief Prosecutor Liviu Păiuși stated that doctors and nurses allegedly prepared documentation with false information regarding diagnoses, medical care, and fictitious hospitalizations. The falsified documents would have been used by individuals seeking to obtain disability certificates, thus fraudulently benefiting from allowances and tax facilities. The operation involved police from various structures, and investigations continue to determine the extent of the damage.
