Prahova investigators conducted 27 searches in a forgery and fraud case involving damage amounting to 1.9 million lei

Prahova investigators conducted 27 searches on Wednesday morning in a case involving forgery of documents, use of forged documents and fraud, with the estimated damage amounting to approximately 1.9 million lei. More than 20 people are to be taken in for questioning.

The searches took place in Ploiești, Câmpina, Breaza and Boldești-Scăeni, as well as in several communes in Prahova County. The operation was carried out by officers from Ploiești Police Section No. 3, with the support of officers from Ploiești and gendarmes from the “Matei Basarab” Mobile Group.

According to investigators, between 2023 and 2026, the suspects allegedly drew up forged loan agreements with credit cooperatives by falsifying the signatures of borrowers and guarantors and using forged income certificates. The loans, valued at between 42,000 and 65,000 lei, were allegedly obtained in the names of other people, with the help of representatives of CAR-type institutions. Investigations are continuing to establish the full extent of the criminal activity and each person’s responsibility.
