Viorel Pașca, the administrator of the care homes in Dumbrava, says he is overwhelmed by requests to take in vulnerable people: “I no longer know what to do”

Viorel Pașca, accused by DIICOT in the Bihor care home case, says that he receives calls every day regarding homeless people and that some people are left directly at the gates of the centers in Dumbrava. He says that the situation has worsened with the cooling weather and that the institutions do not take responsibility for taking in these people.

In a Facebook post, Pașca claims that he recently took in two people: an 85-year-old woman from Suceava and a man who lived on the streets in Salonta. He says that he took them in so as not to leave them out in the cold, although he had decided not to accept any more beneficiaries after the prosecutors' searches in June.

Pașca complains that the Police, the relevant minister, and the People's Advocate did not offer him a solution. “If I let them stay in our homes, DIICOT will come after us again,” he wrote.

In August, the Bucharest Court of Appeal established that the accusations of “slavery” were unfounded and that the amounts considered by prosecutors to be criminal profit barely covered the beneficiaries' food. The trial on the merits has not begun. DIICOT nevertheless maintains that the Pașca family and a coordinator allegedly formed an organized criminal group that exploited hundreds of vulnerable people through the “Dumbrava DPG” Association, which prosecutors claim did not have the necessary licenses.
