On Monday, May 25, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter scale occurred in Romania, according to the National Institute for Earth Physics Research and Development. The earthquake took place in the Vrancea Seismic Zone at 5:33 PM, at a depth of 134.1 kilometers. The epicenter was located 46 km south of Focșani, 59 km south of Buzău, 66 km east of Sfântu Gheorghe, 76 km east of Brașov, and 91 km northeast of Ploiești.
Experts classified the earthquake as weak, typical of seismic activity in the Vrancea area. Since the beginning of May, Romania has recorded eight earthquakes with magnitudes between 2.2 and 3.8. The strongest earthquake this year was recorded on February 26 in Vrancea County, with a magnitude of 4.5. Additionally, another earthquake of 3.5 magnitude occurred in the same area on May 24, at a depth of 87.9 km.
