Following the increased salinity in the Târnava Mica river, the authorities in Mures have started distributing drinking water on an emergency basis, focusing on vulnerable people. So far, 148,000 liters of water have been delivered from the State Reserve and other sources. Salinity monitoring is being done twice a day, and tests confirm that water from certain springs is safe for drinking. Authorities recommend using drinking water from safe sources for drinking and food preparation.
