Dragoș Pîslaru made serious accusations, stating that there was a premeditated plan to break up the National Liberal Party (PNL) and merge it with the PSD.
According to Pîslaru, the strategy aimed to isolate the liberal leadership and attract a dissident faction from the PNL to secure the necessary votes in Parliament for a new Executive. He mentioned that the President of Romania would have been involved in this plan, with Nicușor Dan being used to legitimize the political moves.
Pîslaru explained that the real purpose of the motion of censure was not only to change the government but also to remove Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. He also emphasized that Adrian Veștea would have been prepared for this scenario. Pîslaru believes that this endeavor was extremely harmful to the stability of Romania.
In another context, Ilie Bolojan commented that Sorin Grindeanu would seek to become prime minister to protect the interests of certain mayors and state companies, in the context of a possible governmental rotation. The Bucharest Tribunal has temporarily suspended the effects of a PNL decision regarding the organization of the Extraordinary Congress, and the party announced that it would contest the decision in court.
