The National Directorate for Cyber Security (DNSC) has issued a warning regarding an influence campaign in Romania, which uses micro-targeting and characters generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI), falsely presented as employees of the Romanian Police or the Romanian Gendarmerie. The purpose of these posts is to test public reactions and identify patterns of online behavior, in order to calibrate future influence messages.

DNSC emphasizes that these tactics exploit emotions and the social context, and users are advised not to share suspicious content and to verify the sources of information. The campaign joins other dubious practices, such as promoting "miracle drugs" or platforms with unrealistic financial gains, which can lead to the collection of personal data or online fraud. Experts recommend a careful analysis of images and texts to identify inconsistencies and seek confirmations from independent sources.
