The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned Saturday of an aggressive and coordinated campaign being conducted on online platforms, which it says aims to undermine trust between citizens and law enforcement. The institution conveyed the message on its official Facebook page and asked users not to share false or malicious posts.

According to the Interior Ministry, the messages analyzed incite hostility toward police officers, gendarmes, firefighters and border police officers and are designed to create divisions between ministry representatives and the public. Such campaigns may use images taken out of context, truncated information or unverified allegations concerning alleged abuses.

The warning was issued several hours after the Minister of Internal Affairs asked employees under his authority to abandon displays of forced authority and earn respect through conduct and professionalism. The ministry says the messages shared online are attempting to exploit this subject and provoke hostile reactions toward crews operating in the field.

Authorities recommend verifying information through official sources, reporting clearly false content and avoiding the distribution of messages that incite fear or hatred.
