DNSC reports a new method of online fraud that uses the identity of the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks

The National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC) has issued a warning regarding fraudulent emails claiming to be from the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks (OSIM). These messages urgently request payment of a "registration/maintenance fee for the trademark," threatening recipients with the loss of rights over their owned trademarks.

DNSC specialists emphasize that the messages use alarmist language, invoking terms such as "deadline" and "lost rights," and payments are requested to an IBAN account in Poland, with no connection to OSIM. DNSC reiterates that OSIM does not request payments through unsolicited emails and offers cybersecurity recommendations, including verifying information on the official OSIM website, avoiding access to suspicious links, and reporting fraud attempts. It is also emphasized the importance of preserving evidence for potential investigations.
