A new online fraud alert targets the company E-ON Romania, which has announced that its identity is being fraudulently used to send false overdue bills. Customers are advised to be cautious, as the messages appear authentic at first glance.

In recent years, hackers have developed various methods of deception, including the 'credit' method and 'the grandson in distress', which involve cloning the voice of a known person using AI.

Journalist Teodora Chiuș reported how she was almost deceived by a cloned voice that sounded like her sister.

Additionally, the spokesperson for the Romanian Police, Chief Commissioner Bogdan Ghebaur, was contacted by a scammer using his voice.

Hackers often present themselves as police officers or bank employees, requesting the transfer of money to prevent losses. Recently, they have started sending emails with false bills, urging people to access dangerous links. E-ON emphasizes that its name is being used fraudulently, and the methods of fraud continue to evolve.
