The National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) announced the opening of a criminal investigation against Adrian Pintea, former Secretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture, and Romeo Șoldea, General Director of the National Phytosanitary Authority (ANF), for abuse of office and incitement to abuse of office.

According to prosecutors, Pintea allegedly used the influence of his position to facilitate the illegal transfer of a known associate from the Chamber of Deputies to the ANF, to a senior advisor position, without following the legal procedures. The transfer was completed within seven days, instead of the 30 days stipulated by the Administrative Code. Subsequently, Pintea allegedly incited the transfer of this individual to the Botoșani County Phytosanitary Office, to a position with control responsibilities, even though the individual did not have the necessary qualifications. These actions allegedly caused damage to the budget of the M.A.D.R. and the legitimate interests of the ANF. Pintea resigned on April 29, following changes in the Government.
