On Thursday, DIICOT issued a statement firmly rejecting recent political declarations regarding an ongoing investigation into suspicions of human trafficking and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals in Bihor. Prosecutors emphasize that these political interventions occurred just before the court was to rule on requests for preventive measures. DIICOT warns that justice should not be influenced by political statements or declarations with electoral stakes, highlighting that such conduct undermines the credibility of investigations and puts pressure on the courts.
Additionally, prosecutors reiterate that their activity is conducted within the legal framework and that all requests are analyzed by independent judges. The case has generated public reactions and connections with interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, who denies any involvement. The lawyer of Viorel Pașca, accused by DIICOT, claims that he is innocent and that the situation in the asylums was known to the authorities for a long time.
