DIICOT prosecutors announced the detention of three individuals in Hunedoara, involved in organizing a spiritual ceremony called 'Amazon Weekend', which was to take place at a guesthouse in Boșorod.
The ceremony, dedicated to the rituals of the Peruvian Amazon, promised participants a reconnection with the self, but also involved the consumption of banned substances, such as Ayahuasca and San Pedro, which contain high-risk drugs. Participants, recruited by recommendation, were required to pay between 590 and 650 euros for accommodation and meals.
Following the searches, investigators discovered over 6.6 liters of mescaline, hallucinogenic mushrooms, various vessels and packets with liquid and plant substances, and equipment for consuming the substances.
The two foreign citizens, a Peruvian and a Dane, are accused of introducing drugs into Romania and are being held in preventive custody. The ceremony was prepared with all necessary equipment, including mattresses and containers for vomiting, highlighting the risks associated with drug consumption within these rituals.
