Two founders of a foundation were detained after DMT, coca leaves, and cannabis were found at a retreat in Hunedoara.

Two founders of a foundation in Boșorod commune, Hunedoara County—a 58-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman—were detained for trafficking in high-risk and risk drugs. Investigators allege that the two kept the drugs at the foundation’s headquarters, where they organized paid retreats and workshops focused on self-awareness, healing and inner transformation.

The foundation promoted spiritually and esoterically themed activities, including references to shamanism, sacred ceremonies, medicinal plants and mushrooms. Participants reportedly paid 3,565 lei for an event held between October 15 and 18, 2026.

During a search conducted on October 16, police officers and DIICOT prosecutors seized approximately 710 milliliters of liquid containing DMT, more than 140 grams of coca leaves and an amount of cannabis. They also placed €44,975 and 18,750 lei under seizure.

Investigators found the organizers and participants seated in a circle in a room prepared for activities. The two founders were detained on Wednesday, while prosecutors asked on Thursday for them to be placed under house arrest for 30 days. The two are presumed innocent.
